I just returned from running in the Nashville, Tenn. Country Music Marathon. There were over 32,000 runners in this race. As we got started and were running in this huge mass of humanity, I was taken in by all the slogans on the t-shirts of the runners. The number of "Jesus" shirts was simply amazing! Everything from "Jesus ran for you" (me wonders what his marathon time was), to "I run for Jesus" (I guess he is into sponsorships). As I was struggling up and down the hilly streets of Nashville, I pondered what I had been witnessing. Having never seen anyone do this, I have made a decision. In my next marathon, I will be sporting a t-shirt with the words "Proud Atheist" on the back. I think I will find great satisfaction in pulling in front of a Jesus shirt and having that person stare at MY slogan for a while. It will interesting to see the reactions.
