Worst job ever

Occasionally we get junk mail at the ACT PO Box that was intended for the previous renters. Today a piece of mail came that I really enjoyed.

In this packet there was a 'magazine' with a picture on the cover showing a middle eastern man with a big bushy beard listening to a guy holding a book and holding a pile of pamphlets. An accompanying letter illustrates the scenario:

When you look at the bearded man on the cover (of the magazine), what do you see? A Muslim, a terrorist or an enemy?
What our Christian brother sees is not opposition, but opportunity. He sees a lost, hungry soul in need of the spiritual touch of our savior, jesus christ. It is evangelists like him that we support in hostile areas, providing christian literature and other aid to help them share the love of christ.

It goes on to explain how evangelists are "threatened and sometimes even killed simply for sharing the love of christ". They want me to send prayers.......and money. I think some advice might be better. Maybe it isn't such a good idea to send missionaries to countries under Sharia law.

I didn't take time to read the magazine but I did look over the enclosed map that shows the areas of the world where christian's are persecuted. If there are countries where there are laws against distributing christian literature (like the map points out), why should you be surprised that christians get arrested there for doing exactly that?

I could just picture a group of 18-year olds getting out of missionary training waiting to find out where 'the lord needs their service'.

"Ok, Jim, you're going to North Carolina. Billy, we're sending you to Brazil. And, George, you get to go where the lord needs you most. Pakistan."

Is the guy who drew the short straw really thinking that he's doing god's work or is he thinking this is the worst job ever?
