Several leaders of meetups as well as other activists from all local Meetups
are invited who attend our groups and other organizations (Community of
Reason and Heartland Humanists) will be talking about how to go about a
proactive, aggressive, and meaningful way to
* enforce church/state separation in KS/MO and KC Metro area - prayer before
city council meetings, Mayor's prayer breakfast, Overland Park Mayor's
Christmas tree (misuse of public office for promotion of a specific religion
or showing preference), we have an atheist attorney working for a major KC
firm, importance of keeping an eye on potential violations of separation
* cooperation with FreeThought Action, American Atheists, Atheists Alliance
International, American Humanists and Freedom from Religion Foundation
* bringing in speakers in town - e.g. Dan Barker, President of the Freedom
from Religion Foundation, former Baptist minster is willing to speak to our
groups any time via Skype video by Internet, other speakers in the
freethinking community.
* letter writing campaign to local papers, reporters, mayors, cities, state
reps
* participating on local science and religious blogs
* Public relations, TV and radio presence, press releases, newsletters
* forming of students groups on local campuses
* Darwin B-Day coming up
* community out reach - food drive, Adopt Family for the holidays
* freethinking community center
* collaboration between different groups
* need to add other meetups in Liberty, Independence, Lee's Summit,
Grandview
* how to respond to meetups and provide feedback in order to attract new
members
* possibly working with liberal churches on environmental projects
* adopting a street /park/highway for monthly cleaning
