Going to Hell with the Phelpses
With a young mind it doesn’t matter. You can try as much as you want to talk about how good God is, but the bottom line is there’s this intolerably frightening punishment if you don’t accept it. And how does a young mind deal with that?
This quote is from Nate Phelps that appeared in a Canadian newspaper on October 31st. It's a great article talking about some of the abuse he suffered as a kid and how it affected his life as an adult. I don't want to give any spoilers, but after you read the article, the first response is from none other than Shirley Phelps-Roper.
Here's a great quote from Shirley:
"The child crying over a fear of hell is exactly what is intended by the plain language of the scriptures."
She says a few more things, throws out some bible quotes and this gem:
"This is the generation that is about to see the rise of Antichrist, THAT WICKED, also called The Beast. He will pursuant to the promises of God arise from the sea of humanity and he has some work to do, and then, he will be destroyed with the brighteness of the coming of the Lord. YAY!"
I especially like the 'Yay!' at the end.
