Religulous Interview
Confirmed today that G4TV's Kevin Pereira is a non-believer as he interviews Bill Maher and Larry Charles about Religulous
Every time I see clips from the movie it looks like it should be really entertaining.

Being from Alabama and also being "left" of center I have found Mahr to have devolved into a silly and sarcastic person . I at one time found him funny but he has no balance and attacks those different from him with bareley concealed anger. Snide remarks about Alabama and the south without really knowing the people or the places he attacks . I'm no fan of george bush and I'm certainly not a right wing zealont but I do think I'm fair minded and treat people the way I would want to be treated. I am so sick of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and the bullies and hawks who have never taken up arms themselves for this nation . Yet what does the left offer? Smirks and snide dummies like Mahr and Keith Olberman who have become the very thing they profess to hate.

The movie IS very entertaining. I saw it the other night at Liberty Hall in Lawrence. Crowd was totally into it. There was nothing new in it for me really...I definitely felt like I was part of the choir it was preaching to so to speak, but still a very entertaining and really really funny film. They really found some nutballs to talk to for this one let me tell you.
My only serious problem is that I've heard Bill Maher talk about atheism and I don't think I agree with his understanding of it. He's the type of person who thinks an agnostic is just someone who "isn't sure", and that atheists are people who have an active faith that there IS no god. I don't really think that's a very useful definition of atheism and I don't think it's accurate. I dunno if anyone here listens to any of the Atheist Community of Austin stuff, but I definitely tend more toward the view Matt Dillahunty puts forth--that an atheist is someone who lacks the belief in god(s), period. You don't have to be 100% sure that there are no gods anywhere ever, and you don't have to be able to prove that there are no gods. An atheist is just someone who sees the various claims that god exists, and does not accept them. In other words they're not convinced. And I think "not being sure" qualifies as "not accepting" the claim and not being convinced of the claims. But whatever. Funny clip.
